North Carolina HOSA follows the National HOSA Guidelines at both the District and State Conferences. This better prepares competitors to compete at each level if the guidelines are the same. In skill event and tose events with secret topics, the skills and topics will be different at each level of competition.
Section B of the National HOSA Hanbook contains all of the competitive event guidelines. They are in PDF format and you muct have Adobe Acrobat to be able to open them. Click here to go directly to Section B of the National HOSA Handbook. These may change every year so be sure to use the most current. The guidelines for this year are dated 2010.
Some events are offered at the district level. If the events are offered at the district level a competitor must compete at the district level to get a chance to advance to the state level. There are many more events offered at the state level that do not require regional competition. Please refer to the CE Table of Events for a complete list of events and when they are offered.
Picking which competitive event can be a tough process. You are encouraged to think about your future career and which aspects of healthcare interest you. Knowing this will grant you many successes at competition. Whichever event you choose will give you many opportunities. You will be offered the chance to attend attend regional, state, and national conference. At these conferences, you will meet other HOSA members who share the same career goals as you. The purpose of competitive events is to expand your knowledge about a specific area of healthcare. This can include: learning about new technology, HOSA facts, medical information, presentation skills, and other valuable skills that are needed in the healthcare field. You are strongly encouraged to compete this year, because you will have the time of your life at districtl, state, and national conferences. So start working on your event!

Chapter Website Guidelines

Start a HOSA Website for your chapter and compete in the Chapter Website Event.

Why a website and why this event?
This event is to help encourage HOSA chapters to share their chapter activities and professional learning through a chapter website. As HOSA continues to grow and technology becomes prevalent, local chapter websites can serve as a venue for those in a given community to stay up-to-date on what a local HOSA chapter is doing.

How will it get students involved?
Students are most likely the ones who will be able to update the website. You can create free websites with the following:

www.webs.com
