District 8 Representative News:

Summer is almost over! I can't believe it went by so fast. I hope all of you are ready for the great year to come! We have many exciting goals and ideas for this year to raise the membership of North Carolina HOSA... and remeber you can help us to reach this goal by just talking to your friends and people in your school and encourage them to join!! I am also working on starting a facebook page for our district so be sure to join and keep up with more recent news throughout the district! National News from Smoky Mountain High School

 

Sarah Francis; Edith Callahan, HOSA Advisor; Kelcei Francis; Crystal Shuler; Christina Carter; Angie Dills, CTE Counselor; Evelyn Shuler Class of 2010 graduates Christina Carter, Kelcei Francis, and rising senior Crystal Shuler represented SmokyMountain High School in Orlando, FL at the Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA)
National Leadership Conference. There were over 6000 people in attendance with approximately 5025 members competing in 57 events. Carter and Shuler competed with 445 others in the Kaiser Permanente Healthcare Issues Exam, which was a 50 item multiple-choice test covering healthcare-related issues fromJuly 1, 2009 –May 1, 2010.
Francis competed with 52 others in Veterinary Assisting. The first round included completing a 50 question exam. Francis moved on to the second round skills event along with 21 others at the high school level ranking in the top 22 in the nation for this event.
