2nd Annual Regional Walk for Autism Speaks

October 15, 2008

Dear Health Occupations Teachers:

Great news!  We have finalized the plans for the 2nd Annual Regional Walk for Autism Speaks!

Who:  All regional high schools and organizations

What:  2nd Annual Regional Walk for Autism Speaks

When:  Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, from 9:30 a.m.– 11 a.m. (Registration begins @ 9:00)

Where:  A. C. Reynolds High School track in Asheville

Why:  To raise money and awareness for individuals affected with autism

The suggested length of the walk will be 3 miles (or 12 laps around the track).  There will be a minimum suggested donation of $6 per person to participate, but each participant is encouraged to raise as much money to donate as possible.  The school that raises the most funds collectively will win an award!  Please encourage your students to dress in layers, preferably with a shirt or sweatshirt that displays your school's name.

Please bring your school's donations to the registration table at the walk.  Checks should be paid to the order of "Autism Speaks."  All donations will be credited to your school and will be sent to Autism Speaks, a nonprofit organization.

We encourage you to RSVP by Friday, Oct. 24, with the number of participants you expect to attend from your school as well as your school's donation goal.  Please remember that the school that turns in the most donations on the day of the walk will be given an award.

So let's all come out to have fun and support HOSA's national service project, as well as a great cause.  Light breakfast items, juices, and coffee will be provided at no cost.

Please encourage other CTSO organizations and clubs at your school to participate.

RSVP: aking91@gmail.com or (828) 775-4774.  Thank you.  If you have any questions, please contact me.  Directions are attached.

Sincerely,

Adam King

Reminder to teachers

  1. You must affiliate all students with HOSA state and national and send the list to Kim Hill with your registration .
  2. If you register 10 people and only 8 show up you must pay for 10. Food has already been ordered. This was a problem last year. You may make substitutions but if you have a no show you still have to pay.
  3. Please make sure that your registration is on time. I know that we are all busy. It is very difficult to add names after I have the testing packets made.
